Ottoman Empire - Village Production
In tandem with the sophisticated town production of Ottoman Court carpets a lively tradition of carpet weaving developed in the villages and hamlets of the Ottoman Empire. In Bergama, Melas, Konya, Yuruk and Kula traditional designs were woven in a naive manner with a style similar to that of the Caucasian villages although with softer, mellower coloring.
