Square
Tapestries where the height and width are approximately equal are comparatively uncommon but were usually designed to fill square wall areas as parts of larger sets. The square format is more challenging from the point of view of design, and provides less dramatic possibilities than a rectangular shaped tapestry. Again, like the upright shape, this was a popular format for heraldic and armorial designs.
