Winemaking Seasons Months
Tapestries depicting the process of winemaking, including depictions of vines, barrels full of grapes, the work of coopers and wine tasting were popular from the 15th century. These themes were also included in series of monthly or seasonal activities, which include sowing, flax-making, and slaughtering of livestock. In some tapestries these activities are portrayed alongside the signs of the zodiac, most notably The Months of Lucas, a 16th century series that was rewoven in the 17th century at the Gobelins, or the celebrated Mortlake series The Months.
